USCC Red Lake I-500 Reschedule Dates
The United States Cross-Country Snowmobile Racing Association (USCC) National Guard Cross-Country Snowmobile Championship has rescheduled its flagship event, the USCC Red Lake I-500.
The new dates are February 24-26, 2011. The schedule change is the result of current poor snow conditions in the race region and weather forecasts that don’t show significant changes during the next two weeks.
“We tried to reschedule the race on the most convenient date possible,”
said USCC Race Director Jesse Strege. “It’s difficult to do because the weather has shortened our season considerably and we’re down to only about two months of schedule options. The good thing is with the later date there’s more daylight and we’re almost guaranteed to have some snow cover.”
The Red Lake I-500 is a three-day, 500-mile race that takes place in and around Thief River Falls, Minn., the home of Arctic Cat snowmobiles. Based out of Seven Clans Casino, the race features a $10,000 cash payout for the winner of the Pro 600 class and is one of the richest overall races in snowmobiling.
