TEAM ARCTIC CONQUERS JACKSON HILLCLIMB WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
16 Podiums, Six Class Victories and One King Title for Team Green
At a Jackson Hole Hillclimb that will long be remembered for tough and unusual conditions for racing, Team Arctic racers shrugged off the adversity, pointed their M Series sleds and rode to the top of Snow King like the World Champions they are. And the results proved it as Team Green captured 16 podium places, six class victories and the Improved King of the Hill title.
Kyle Tapio has made a career of conquering Snow King Mountain at Jackson Hole, and this year was no different as the precise, methodical hillclimber claimed the 1000 Improved Stock class win and the Improved King of the Hill title in convincing fashion. His brother Russ was equally impressive, winning both 600 Mod and 700 Mod finals to bring home an equal share of hardware.
Not to be outdone by their Team Green teammates, David McClure returned from six weeks of recovery following a leg injury to deliver two mighty class victories in the 600 Improved and 700 Improved classes; and Tony Ottobre took the win in the Senior Mod class.
“We’re impressed and proud of tremendous success that Team Arctic racers and crews achieved at a very challenging World Championship,” said Mike Kloety, Team Arctic Race Manager. “With little snow and hard, icy surfaces where there was snow, Snow King Mountain proved extremely difficult to figure out for racers normally accustomed to soft snow.
“Taking six wins, 16 podiums and one King title is a testament to our teams, the M Series machines in the ProClimb chassis and our aftermarket partner Speedwerx. With so much racer excitement and potential coming next season with our Arctic Cat C-TEC2 8000 engine, we look forward to even greater success next year at Jackson Hole.”
TEAM ARCTIC CLOSES 2017 ISOC SNOCROSS SEASON WITH EIGHT WINS
More Class Victories and Podium Finishes for Team Green
The 2017 ISOC National snocross season came to an end in Lake Geneva, Wis., where Team Arctic racers delivered eight class wins, 14 podium places and two class high point championships.
The eight class victories were highlighted by Tucker Hibbert winning the second Pro Open final of the weekend. Hibbert ended the season with seven victories – two more than his closest competitor – and a third place finish in the points battle.
Malene Anderson had a breakthrough weekend in Lake Geneva, winning for the first time this season with dominating victories in both ProAm Women’s finals. In a similar fashion, Devin Malcein scored a big win in the Sport Lite class. Drew Freeland captured the win in Junior 10-13; Taven Woodie won the Jr. Girls 9-13 class; Matt LaMourea took the Transition 8-12 final; and Lawson Sterry won Transition 8-19.
A season of wins and top finishes gave Woodie the high point championship title in her class, while Eric Downs captured the Junior 14-15 high point championship thanks to multiple victories and consistent top placings.
ISOC also hosted its Annual Showdown at Lake Geneva, pitting the nation’s top regional snocross racers against each other in a full program of competition to determine the overall top regional competitors. There, Team Arctic racers reined supreme, winning 10 of 16 class finals. They included Nick Zanstra, Malene Andersen, Kaden Woodie, Mitchel Gross, Jordan Brinkman, Eric Downs, Drew Freeland (with two wins), Taven Woodie, and Aieden Leonard.
“It was encouraging to end the ISOC season with eight wins and 14 podium finishes,” said Mike Kloety, Team Arctic Race Manager. “Likewise, it was spectacular to see Team Green dominate the Showdown event. Our success reflects the talent of our riders, the depth of our program and the performance of our ZR 6000R SX race sleds. We’ll continue to refine our race sled prior to next season while helping our teams and racers to reach their goals.”
