Ski-Doo released a new video about their 2012 rear suspension (interesting, but terrible voice “talent”).
Polaris released a vid about their three new-for-’12 sleds (lots of sizzle, not much steak).
After taking a beating on this site for NOT releasing more info on their 2012 machines, I needed to post this video detailing some important technology for their 50th Anniversary Arctic Cat snowmobiles.
So direct drive is gone?
no comment,,,,,,,,,,,yet……………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. …….ok ………………………………………… ………………………………………….. ………………………………………….. …………………………………..still nothing.
I was at first excited when you said Cat released a vid about 2012 technology. That was a waste of resources if they actually filmed that on company time. Had they actually mentioned something to get us excited I might have a different opinion. I want so bad for the TRF marketing dept to come through, but this year is a big dissappointment. Many of us our chomping at the bit for something, anything, but we get nothing.
So the rumors were true! Exactly what I had suspected they were working on! You could barely see that in the casino pictures (it was somewhat hidden by the prototype covers) but it was there.
Glad to hear the dingle arm is finally going to make it to production…. People told me not to but I was literally holding my breath.
I like that “side-fumbling was effectively prevented.” 🙂
I know many of you don’t like the non-hype for the 50th anniversary. My opinion is this… they don’t have to.
While the other companies are trying to make some excitement, Cat knows that in a couple weeks they’re going to blow everyone’s doors off. But not saying anything, they’re saying everything… it’s gonna be big.
Awesome!! I found myself laughing out loud half way through and it just kept getting better and better. That guy is a master of dead pan, straight faced delivery!
Wicked King,, I’m in total agreeance with you on the non-hype tactic,, and let me say that for the past yr plus, I have been receiving “bits of info” info of them “talking about” dropping DD as the inferior design of the secondary clutch’s components and reliability of the design produced by Black Diamond have left a huge lump in Cats throats for so overwhelmingly promoting it during the first yr or two of use by them only to have a huge failure rate vs their std of the industry reverse cam secondary which is nearly in-destructible (unless putting over 400hp through it),, even then, it will still outlast (and harness) any other O.E.M. manufactured secondary clutch on the market
This is frustrating but I like how they are actually making a big HYPE of this release. AC marketing department are spot on how to build a hype. Even if I really want to see some pics now they get me so so excited about whats coming with these small spy-pics and videos that I piss my pants.
Too bad many do not see the “hype” building as 3/8/11 nears quite like you do Kristoffer,, too many have fallen from the ship (so to speak)
The turbo encabulator isn’t new, we work on stuff way beyond that at my employer.

Patiently waiting for the gold colored BNG for the 50th anniversary. Maybe if we’re lucky there will be a special Hetteen edition of the twin spar that never stole the market with its sexy looks.
Pray that if there is a new sled, it has all the bugs worked out that historically has taken AC years to fix to make it a truly good sled. In my book, that is how AC can gain market share – Build a sled right the first time.
Uh, um, ah, er…. ok, after seeing it 42 times I think I got it.
What a F*****g joke. Im a big Arctic Cat fan but this video is just a joke and pisses me off. They make it so “scientific” just so you have to watch it “42” times to get a buncha views.
there it is, Dingle Arm after 50 years of cat and all the snowmobiles of the past they finally got it down, and with that price, it only took one man, with no research and understanding its part of the Obama plan.
I wonder if they finally will get a model as fast as the 03 Firecat. I wonder if Halstrom will claim it to be faster than the 03 Firecat like he did with the 07 F8 ha ha ha ha, what a turd…….Hint, check out the Yamaha chain case and study it……….
this is f’ing awesome! sent to all my buddies
The only reason Polaris and Doo released anything early was in fear of what Cat is coming with!
This video has been floating around for years! Still funny…but not a Cat Marketing piece.
@ What a joke
dude, why would they tell you what all this means? they want everything to be a surprise cause everything is gonna be new. just calm the f*ck down and wait til’ march 8th and then hopefully you’ll shut the hell up
Some of you guys are nuts. Do you actually think this was produced by Cat? Sandbergs having some fun jerking your chain man…
Cat can’t win here with some of you guys. They could “hype” the heck out of it and some of you would still be pissed for some lame reason(seat foam is too hard for you). It’s getting really old reading the posts about Cat not spending the money to hype this stuff and in the same sentence reading a comment about how expensive the sleds are. Do you think the marketing department runs for free?
Keep in mind a lot of the dealers are still sitting on a significant amount of current and not current inventory. How are they supposed to sell that with the latest and greatest coming out?
@Dulpher
Right on!
The video is hilarious and what is even funnier how some thought it was actually produced by AC. Good Lord people!
AC has traditionally been the last to tip their hand to the new sleds every year. Not sure their reasoning for this, but sometimes I think they do it to find out what the others come up with and then hold back if they dont believe its necessary.
I dont think this is the case this year. Too big of a deal and they havent released anything huge for a couple years so its time for new chassis.
Thinking about engines, when I ordered my 2002 zr800efi Cross Country it was supposed to have this “direct injection” system on it. Somehow it never made it.
I would bet a technology like this is finally going to make it to us this year. It took BRP years to perfect the ETEC in the Evinrude outboards and that was after OMC started it. Even still it took several more years before they showed up in sleds. I am very excited to see what comes out.
Awesome video, looks to be about 10-20 yrs old, very funny thou.
My money is on on a rider forward chassis with at least a twin cylinder 4 stroke, maybe turbo? If they keep the current 800 can they fix the octane issue that people are complaining about? Some buyers would be put off with same engine in a new chassis if it’s not fixed.
Dulpher, Chase, MN Guy, VT,,, Kudo’s to you all for getting it :),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Super 8,,,, Les, what’s gotten into you? I can tell just from reading it’s not an AC produced video (see my reply to Captain), don’t take it so hard brotha’!,,,,,,,,,,,,
Captain,, I haven’t yet seen the video (boss has loaded new program in at work and i’m told not to mess with it in any way) and cannot open it, but it sounds funny from what others are posting, Lol!
Cat has reduced inventories in both the factory and dealerships by more than 20%, I think in prep for the ‘new’ era of cat. Whether you think the ‘marketing’ is working or not, you are all talking about!!!!!!! and so is everyone else…..someone mentioned ‘losing’ people…cat has gained over 17% market share in sleds and wheelers in the past year, in that is in a slow economy…just wait for March 8th and watch the band wagon jumpers over load the boat baby……
I have a copy of the VHS tape of this video that I got from Rockwell Collins out of Cedar Rapids Iowa many years ago during a week of avionics training. I am sure it has been modified for many other uses. Key point of the video though is GREAT HUMOR!
I think I had more than my quota of snow in earlier days. I preefr to see it in pictures only at this stage of my life. It can be a real pain, but for kids it’s wonderful.Hope your arm recovers quickly.

Looks like fun!I’m not sure what happened when updnaliog, but I can see that the first photo has no surrounding anchor (link) tags like the second. I’d paste the link text here, but Blogger seems to block such things in the comment box.Since the photo itself is already uploaded to a blogspot server, you might be able to add it to the post again. Blogspot might then default to linking it to the larger photo, as desired.I often think about steering a sled as a way to distinguish how the concept of influence differs from control. That was a useful lesson from a childhood in a snowy place.Cheers http://jrcbzhx.com jxrotcrf [link=http://xmlhpoib.com]xmlhpoib[/link]

Lovely post, Lee. I’m so grateful for my blignesss. I’m healthy, my kids and grands live nearby, and though there’s not much money to spare, I have a nice, warm house and dinner on the table every night. Life is good. I host Christmas Eve every year, and the house is always bustling with all of my very favorite people. The grandkids range in age from 6 to 2 (and there’s another due in February!), so there’ll be lots of noise and mess and silliness. Sounds pretty much perfect.I hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas! http://xwzkvewyhv.com ydjlrv [link=http://dbxjwqgj.com]dbxjwqgj[/link]
