  1. Roger didn’t pull any punches about Textron gutting the engineering and racing departments / pushing out the old guard who were the backbone of the engineering and racing departments.
My takeaway is he thinks Cat’s glory days are behind it.

    • The glory days, are long gone. Also long gone is a company full of riders and racers, who cared. The days of excellent customer service, and the company going the extra mile to stand behind their products are long gone too.
Just look at the clutch guard they are installing to reduce injuries WHEN the team clutch explodes, instead of spending a few more bucks to put an adapt clutch on. They have known about the issue for 5 or more years. At the beginning, when actual ac folks still ran things they would replace a cracked clutch at no charge, in warranty or not. Textron put a stop to that, and any other good will.

      • I’m not one to play into doom and gloom but the clutch guard they are installing is total BS. My Uncle and Cousins had it installed on their sleds under the recall and its an embarrassment ..completely hack.

  2. Great job Gentlemen, can’t wait for part 2 and 3. So many racers have passed before him and he respected all of them and any input that they could relay to him. It didn’t matter to him at what level you were at racing Arctic Cats, he would treat everyone just like they were racing at the highest level. He would always take notes about the racers with his pocket notebook so he could get to know everyone racing on Arctic Cats. After a conversation with Roger, you always left thinking he knew you better than you knew him. The guy really cared about everyone out there racing the sleds he helped build.

  3. Great podcast guys. Appreciate Roger so much and what he has given the sled world, and how all sledders benefit from his contributions. Thanks Roger.

  4. Thank you for a great podcast. Roger is a gentleman and a leader. Good companies take champions. Roger is a champion of all things Arctic Cat!

  5. It seemed pretty evident that he still hurts from being pushed out the door by Textron. He has so much history, knowledge, and passion – and you could see he still wants to use it. It was a move that I hated when first hearing about it and now after hearing him talk about it I hate it even more. Heritage and history are important to a brand and it’s doubtful that Textron Arctic Cat will ever regain the trust or loyalty that the Arctic cat name deserves.

It was a great interview and I was grateful to hear Roger share so much – I look forward to a part II.

  6. Little spineless weasels like John Collins pushed Roger out the door. Even though we were just a dirt dealer, I am a former sled-head, and 100% knew the accomplishments and inspiration of Roger Skime, and was outraged when the E-Z-GO morons did that to him.

These days it seems there is more Arctic Cat talent at Argo than at Arctic Cat.
