CANTERBURY SNOCROSS REPORT FROM WOODIES RACING

The 2022 snocross season opened in Shakopee, MN this past weekend at the legendary Canterbury Park. A great track and some incredible no-holds-barred racing brought in thousands of fans packing the venue both inside and out!

Pro Women – Taven Woodie

After being off the sled for almost a year due to an injury in Dubuque in 2021, Taven jumped right back in at Canterbury without missing a beat. On Friday, she went 1-2 in her qualifying rounds and when the light went green for the final, one of her competitors veered across the field and ultimately flipping Taven and her sled, then running her over. Luckily her helmet did its job and she was able to walk away with a broken nose and a very black and blue body.

Taven returned Saturday with redemption placing 2-3 in qualifying and led the Final from start to checkers. This would be her first win in two years.

Our newest rider, Trent Wittwer, showed speed and talent on the track Saturday after pulling the hole shot and leading the entire second round until the final lap. Trent said the weekend was all about learning, and the ultra-competitive field has doubled in size since last season. He knows every ounce of his focus needs to be on making that podium. Walking away from the weekend Trent knows exactly what areas he needs to work on personally and what areas the team needs to dial his sled in for to get him to where we all know he can be.

Our second new rider, Dylan Roes, was also getting back into the swing of things with a much bigger field than last season. Unfortunately, he just found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time getting stuck with other sleds, collisions with competitors, and more. Luckily he was able to walk away from each incident in good health. If you know Dylan, you know that type of results only light a fire under him to charge harder in Dubuque.
