Christian Brothers Racing: Great Start to 2014

Press Release-

Christian Brothers Racing Rings in 2014 with a Podium Party

For Christian Brothers Racing the New Year typically means the team is at full throttle heading into the heart of its racing season. The snocross arm of CBR headed to one of the premier events on the Snocross National schedule, the Canterbury Snocross in Shakopee, Minnesota. Seen by many as the birthplace of modern day snocross, Canterbury is located just outside the Twin Cities metro area and typically draws one of the largest crowds of any of the races on the schedule. CBR riders fought a fine, wet snow on Friday and frigid temperatures on Saturday on the way to racking up a winning weekend.

Logan Christian – The DRIFT Racing/Arctic Cat of Logan Christian was at the front of the Pro Open pack all weekend, but a couple bobbles in the main events affected Christian’s finishing position. He ran as high as 3rd on Friday and 5th on Saturday, but settled for a 6th place and 14th finishes.

Dave Joanis – After tallying his highest Pro Open finish to date at the last race in Bessemer, Michigan, Dave Joanis won the LCQ and put the Royal Distributing/Arctic Cat on the back row for the start of the main on Friday. Joanis got tied up with another sled during Round 2 of heats on Saturday but had to pull out of the LCQ because his snowmobile was too badly damaged to be repaired in time.

Marica Renheim – Marica Renheim kept her unbeaten streak alive at Canterbury in a big way. She got the holeshot in the Pro Am Women main and ran away with the race, putting a huge gap between her Polarbear Boots-backed Arctic Cat and the second place finisher. It is the Swedish rider’s third win in a row.

Tyler Adams – Premier races attract huge fields of Sport riders and Canterbury is one of those events. Tyler Adams fought through a tight pack of Sport riders transferring his Arctic Cat to the main through the LCQ on Friday and finishing on the podium in third place. Adams earned a spot in the main again on Saturday and finished just off the podium in 4th place. Adams left Canterbury with the points lead in the Sport class.

Evan Christian – Evan Christian continues to pick up the pace in the Junior Novice 10-13 class. Christian went 5-5 in heats on the massive Canterbury track and logged a 10th place finish in the final.

CBR cross-country riders Zach Herfindahl and Brian Dick headed to the Minnesota resort destination town of Detroit Lakes to compete in the USXC J&K Marine Beach Bar 200. Like the opener at Pine Lake three weeks ago, Detroit Lakes is an ice lemans-style event held on the frozen surface of Big Detroit Lake in downtown Detroit Lakes.

Zach Herfindahl – Fresh off his Pro 600 win at Pine Lake, Zach Herfindahl came from second place to take the win in a 4-lap, 40-mile Pro Open race, besting 15 other riders to take the win. Herfindahl backed up his win with a second place finish in the 8-lap, 80-mile Pro 600 race.

Brian Dick – Proving once again that he is the master of the ice, Brian Dick came from second place to pass his teammate Zach Herfindahl and take the win in the Pro 600 race. Dick set the fastest lap time of the day with 9-minute, 44-second run around the the twisty ice course.

Quotes:
Logan Christian – This weekend was pretty challenging with the weather conditions being cold one night and snow the other. I liked the track a lot and I really felt like we were on the pace with the DRIFT Racing/Arctic Cat. We are really close to the podium and we’ll get there, we just need to keep working hard.

Dave Joanis – Canterbury was a tough track. It was long and you really had to hit your marks to put in good laps. Our Royal Distributing/Arctic Cat was working great and all in all we had a good weekend. There’s a lot of time before the next race so we’ll be ready.

Marica Renheim – It feels really good to start the year off with another win.  I plan on training hard and racing a regional to prepare for Deadwood and I am hoping to be put the Polarbear Boots Arctic Cat on top of the podium again.

Tyler Adams – We finished on the podium Friday and I was as high as third on Saturday, so I’m pretty happy with how the weekend went. As long as we keep finishing like this we should be in the hunt for the points championship at the end of the season.

Zach Herfindahl – We had another great weekend at Detroit Lakes. Our sleds are really dialed in and that makes it a lot of fun to go out there and compete. I was great battling with Brian in Pro 600 and had a great run in Pro Open, passing the leader for the win.

Brian Dick – We found a great setup for Detroit Lakes and our Arctic Cat snowmobiles were really working good. It feels awesome to get the first win of the season.
