Flashback: January 10-11, 1976.
The prestigious Kalamazoo Kup at Imlay City, Mich., as Team Arctic Sno Pro racers put on a veritable clinic.
Coming off of serious injury from the 1975 season, Dave Thompson scores his first win of 1976 in 340 Super Mod, with teammate Larry Coltom taking second place.
As always, Coltom is nothing short of impressive, notching multiple heat wins en route to third in 250 Super Mod and another second place, in 440 Super Mod.
It is Bob Elsner’s star that shines brightest this weekend with victory in both 250 SM and 440 SM.
When the points are tallied, Elsner wins the Kalamazoo Kup. Coltom is second.
While Coltom is denied victory this weekend, his 1976 season will prove to be nothing less then extraordinary. He will capture multiple victories throughout the season, including the coveted Hetteen Cup, and will end the season as Sno Pro’s #1 driver, just ahead of Elsner.
But on the second weekend of January 1976, it is Bob Elsner who takes the glory. For himself and for Team Arctic.
