On the Production Line: 2015 Arctic Cat ZR6000R Race Sleds

The 2015 Arctic Cat ZR6000R race sleds were rolling off the assembly line in Thief River Falls yesterday.

(Big thanks to Joey Hallstrom, who snapped these pix of the Cross-Country racer at various stages of production. For his exceptional photo skills, Joey’s next drink at the Black Cat is on me.)

Like all freshly assembled machines, these sleds look awesome! Maybe even a little extra-awesome because they’re race sleds.

It’s standard operating procedure for random machines to undergo a post-assembly quality inspection. I wonder who will pilot this machine this season?

Just add shocks, skis, windshield. Then stud the track and it’s ready to rip.

The start of the race season is just a month away. I for one am PUMPED to see these machines take the green (and checkered) flag.

Thanks for reading.

  1. So my race buddy who follows what goes on in the lower 48 much more closely than me says that Cat really threw Polaris and the industry a curve ball with this sled in the Super Sport class. Is there any truth to that? I like the idea as it sounds like it is available to any Joe Blow, correct? I’m not a big fan of the snowmachine race programs I’ve had to deal with them since the 90’s. There is a lot to be said for MX racing in that if I want to race motocross, I can walk into any Yamaha dealer, pretty much any time of the year and buy a YZ race bike right off the show room floor. The whole snowmobile world, “apply to buy a race sled and not even know what it looks like until you’ve paid for it” thing is ridiculous!

  2. I’ve know that mine is serial number 201. With the frame signed by Joey Hallstrom, Tucker Hibbert, and (welcome back) Chris Twomy. Looking forward to the I-500. I’ve been told I can run up to 3 classes.
