Photos from the First Outlaw Race

Below, Arctic Cat oval racer Andy Moyle checks in with a brief report and pix of the first-ever Outlaw 600 oval race from Beausejour, Manitoba, earlier this month:

A mighty good feeling comes with the Cat!!

The very first Outlaw 600 race was held on December 3rd in Beausejour Manitoba. Of the roughly 16 Outlaws that are being built, half made it in time for the first race and it was awesome to see them go around the track!

These three-ski/single-track 600s are specially built with safety and ease of driving in mind, which is the main attraction for the retired oval racer or the off-season car racer who wants something to do in the winter!

Former Eagle River World Champion Chuck Decker came out of oval retirement to race, along with Andy Moyle (younger brother of Arctic Cats 2x World Champion Gary Moyle), Trevor Fontaine (a current Arctic Cat champ 440 racer), Tim Hibbard from New Hampshire and others competed in this first-of-its-kind snowmobile event.

Joining these dedicated snowmobile racers were Rich Bickle of NASCAR Winston Cup, Jeremy Kerzman of the World of Outlaws (both driving Arctic Cats), and Joe Schneider from late models, all of whom come from the world of auto racing. With this combination of diverse talent the show was sure to be a success, and for Cat it was.

Through successive rounds of qualifying, each driver improved the handling of their Outlaw racer.  After all.. this event was the first time that most of these sleds had ever hit the ice.

Once the rounds were set, I was fortunate to sit on the pole for the final aboard the #66 Arctic Cat, then went on to win the first ever Outlaw 600 race!

After the final I felt like Henry and his Pantera, as there were so many people around that wanted to see and touch the Arctic Cat Outlaw 600!

We’re all looking forward to more and better racing this season.
