Is Klotz proper oil? Me and my dad always use Klotz. Never had a problem. He bought a whole drum at a swap meet once.

Klotz is fine oil Bobby, I think we’re talking about a lean mapping condition on the sled and not an issue with the injection oil.

Is this a free flash for 21-22 owners? There’s a rumor floating around that it will cost owners.

I wasn’t sure this was going to happen, because of how difficult it is to get the government to do something (such as EPA approving a fuel mapping change), even when there is a clear and immediate need. So, I bought a remap. If this is free to owners, then I would have gotten this instead.

This is not a service bulletin or recall the customer will receive. This is an advisory for dealers to use when diagnosing an engine failure. Sad to think the 22’s might follow the same fate as the 21’s since they obviously didn’t change anything or directly identify the root cause of the 21′ failures. If Cat wanted all 21/22 8000’s to receive the ECM calibration this would be a recall. If you read the entire advisory they never once mention the mapping to be the cause of the failures. To me, it seems as the updated calibration is just adding a safety net if you experience any of the listed causes for a lean seizure…

My dealer already called me and told me to bring my ’21 8000 RR in as soon as I can. Takes 5 minutes to do.
