Staying Home with Dad: No Racing for P.J. Wanderscheid This Season

P.J. Wanderscheid, Team Arctic 4-time World Champion.

Yesterday the news came from P.J. Wanderscheid that he and his crew will not race at the upcoming Eagle River World Championships, or any other events this season.

The 4-time World Champion and his family made the difficult decision because his father, Dick, is locked in tough battle with Stage 4 lung cancer, which recently spread to his bones, and needs constant care. They’re going to take a break from racing this season to stay home with him.

As P.J. noted to his sponsors, friends and fans, the decision is tough only because snowmobile oval racing has been his passion for 15 years.

I’ve gotten to know P.J. and his brothers Dave and Mark pretty well over the past few years. They are hard working men who put quality and dedication into everything they do, and they treat people like friends.

Those qualities are the result of great family values, love and care.

So it’s no surprise that they’ve put their drive for five World Championships on hold to do everything they can to support their dad and each other. There will be more opportunities in the future to chase the checkered flag.

I’m wishing the best for the entire Wanderscheid family, from me and the whole family of Arctic Cat riders.
