The Team Arctic XC team kicked off the 2023 race season with a successful weekend of racing aboard Arctic Cat snowmobiles. A 9.9 mile lemans style ice coarse with a challenging lay out pushed Team Arctic’s sleds to the limits and made for some incredibly close racing. Herfindahl’s team worked hard all weekend to have winning sleds and it payed off when the sun set Sunday evening.
Saturday consisted of a Pro Open heat and final, Zach qualified first leading into the afternoon 100 mile final. The Arctic Cat/Country Cat/Speedwerx Mod ran incredible leading to a start-to-finish victory by over a minute margin to cap off a huge win. With such a statement win, Herfindahl looks forward to preparing this sled for the upcoming Soo 500 in February.
Sunday consisted of the Pro Stock heat and final. Zach again ran a fast time to qualify first heading into the 100 mile final. The Pro Stock final proved to be an incredible race from start to finish the lead changed hands between three racers the entire 100 miles. As the checkers flew Zach finished 4 seconds out of the lead in third place. It was a hard fought final, just 4 seconds short of the victory.
“I am proud of our team and the effort that was put fourth all weekend. I felt as though our sleds were capable of winning all weekend and I think we showed that. It feels great to start the championship campaign off up front and I am looking forward to Nisswa this coming weekend!” – Zach Herfindahl
