Press Release-
TEAM ARCTIC FREEZES OUT THE COMPETITION IN JANUARY
Team Green Takes 33 Class Wins and 90 Podium Finishes in USXC Cross-Country Events; Plus 11 Wins and 32 Podiums at ISOC Snocross National; 2 Gold Medals at ESPN X Games
It was a bitter January for anyone battling the ever-dominant Team Arctic race team in 2018, with Team Green scoring 33 class wins and 90 podium finishes in three USXC cross-country events; the snocross team notching 11 wins and 32 podium finishes at the ISOC National in Deadwood, South Dakota; and Pro Black Cat rider Brett Turcotte sending it over the top with two gold medals at the ESPN Winter X Games.
“We’re in the heart of the winter race season and we’re still the team to beat,” said Mike Kloety, Team Arctic Race Manager. “We take great satisfaction to score more wins and more podiums than our competition. It’s a testement to our talented racers, their dedicated teams and the competitive edge we have with the Arctic Cat ZR 6000R snocross and cross-country race sleds.”
Three consecutive weekends of USXC cross-country racing in Manvel, ND, Park Rapids, Minn., and Thief River Falls, Minn., challenged riders to adapt to both rough ditchlines and high speed lake conditions. Zach Herfindahl added a third Pro Factory 600 win to his season total while Ben Langaas notched his first Pro win in the Open class at Park Rapids. After scoring a majority of class wins and podium finishes, Team Green is poised for a strong second half of the season
It’s a similar story in ISOC National snocross, as Team Green delivered a dominant performance in Deadwood. Led by Tucker Hibbert’s sweep of the Pro Open classes and another win in Pro Lite by Dan Benham, Arctic Cat racers claimed 11 wins and 32 podium finishes in yet another display of snocross supremacy.
And as gold icing on the victory cake, Pro Black Cat backcountry phenom Brett Turcotte scored two gold medals – one in Snowmobile Freestyle and the other in Speed & Style – at the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado.
The next ISOC snocross national is Feb. 16-17 in Salamanca, NY. The next USXC cross-country is the I-500, Feb. 8-10, starting in Thief River Falls, Minn.

On the seventh day, god created Tucker!
Question for all the cat guys. Why is it that doo riders hate cat so much seems every where I ride doo riders like to pick on cat. All manufacturers build old sleds and they all break including doo. While I think the new technology is great I still think my older cats are tougher.
Doo riders don’t like Cat’s cuz they r tired of seeing our tail lights LOL. Good job for Team Arctic rdiers across all race events.
This is a critical time for AC to show off the brand and its legacy of wining with great people and machines,,,
Let’s not forget the Outlaw 600 World Championship win for Arctic Cat ice oval racing legend Tim Hibbard in Eagle River Wisconsin. This guy is the “Dale Earnhardt” of Outlaw 600 racing and is also one of the most interesting guys you will ever meet.
Matt, the Burn the Doo folks feel is deep seated and beyond the ridiculous. 20 years ago I did a retrospective on the 1972 EXT for a vintage magazine and proceeded to get harassed online in all chat rooms by the son of a PA ‘Doo dealer because they insisted the ’72’s wins were the results of cheating, almost thirty years before the article was published. (I was there and that chassis could turn on a dime and give you a nickel back. It was not cheating!) Let it go my yellow riding friends, let it go! Cat’s history of innovation is very long. May it continue evermore. Congrats to Team Arctic.
Burn the doo folks. Amazes me rotax was always a good motor in the doo rest of the sled was junk then the rev comes along and takes the market like mm peanuts. Doo owners seem to forget that some of the technology in that rev came from cat engineers. Being a small company cat has really brought some great engineering to the sport and I’ve always tried to support the small guy. It’s great to see that Cats 600/800 are being made here by them. Doo riders will never let it go. It would be great to see Arctic Cat take over the number 1 position and hopefully with textron they are on their way. Doo owners can only wish that they had as many pioneers over the years that cats had.
Seems as though some of those Pioneers (Don Edie, Greg Spaulding) are being shown the door by Textron. Sad. I hope they know what they are doing!
Greg and Don are 65 so Retirement was going to happen. Most likely what happened Bulldog. I hope to retire before 60.
