Press Release-
TEAM ARCTIC FREEZES OUT THE COMPETITION IN JANUARY
Team Green Takes 33 Class Wins and 90 Podium Finishes in USXC Cross-Country Events; Plus 11 Wins and 32 Podiums at ISOC Snocross National; 2 Gold Medals at ESPN X Games
It was a bitter January for anyone battling the ever-dominant Team Arctic race team in 2018, with Team Green scoring 33 class wins and 90 podium finishes in three USXC cross-country events; the snocross team notching 11 wins and 32 podium finishes at the ISOC National in Deadwood, South Dakota; and Pro Black Cat rider Brett Turcotte sending it over the top with two gold medals at the ESPN Winter X Games.
“We’re in the heart of the winter race season and we’re still the team to beat,” said Mike Kloety, Team Arctic Race Manager. “We take great satisfaction to score more wins and more podiums than our competition. It’s a testement to our talented racers, their dedicated teams and the competitive edge we have with the Arctic Cat ZR 6000R snocross and cross-country race sleds.”
Three consecutive weekends of USXC cross-country racing in Manvel, ND, Park Rapids, Minn., and Thief River Falls, Minn., challenged riders to adapt to both rough ditchlines and high speed lake conditions. Zach Herfindahl added a third Pro Factory 600 win to his season total while Ben Langaas notched his first Pro win in the Open class at Park Rapids. After scoring a majority of class wins and podium finishes, Team Green is poised for a strong second half of the season
It’s a similar story in ISOC National snocross, as Team Green delivered a dominant performance in Deadwood. Led by Tucker Hibbert’s sweep of the Pro Open classes and another win in Pro Lite by Dan Benham, Arctic Cat racers claimed 11 wins and 32 podium finishes in yet another display of snocross supremacy.
And as gold icing on the victory cake, Pro Black Cat backcountry phenom Brett Turcotte scored two gold medals – one in Snowmobile Freestyle and the other in Speed & Style – at the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado.
The next ISOC snocross national is Feb. 16-17 in Salamanca, NY. The next USXC cross-country is the I-500, Feb. 8-10, starting in Thief River Falls, Minn.
