One week prior to the start of the 2009-10 Snocross race season, Tucker Hibbert reports in with some photos and insight of the Hibbert race shop.
In Tucker’s words….
My dad and Fred Olson are stumped on how to put the rest of the skidframe together.
Fred has been working hard and smiling all the time. Thanks Fred! [Editor’s note: Fred has probably logged more wrench time on Hibbert (both Kirk and Tucker) race sleds than anyone else.]
I caught Mike Larson trying to steal this wad of brown packing paper. Either that, or he is just finishing up the spare parts inventory and neatly packing everything away. Thanks Mike!
Jeff Tweet is heading out the door with my Mod race engine case to assemble everything at his shop. Jeff can build anything. Thanks Jeff!
My dad is working to cut some weight from my mod sled parts. Maybe we can try cutting his hair in the lathe? Thanks dad!
All the new Castle/Monster team gear has arrived and looks really cool!
My stock race sled is about 97% ready for the start line.
My mod race sled is about 97% NOT ready for the start line.
One of my dads old race sleds is now a storage rack for my hoods and pods. Kinda sad… I wish he would blow the dust off it and race the Pro Vets class at Duluth!
Thanks to Kate Sandberg, lunch today was an entire loaf of banana bread! We put it in the oven to warm it up. Now I am extremely full and won’t need to eat again until Duluth.
I am pumped up for the season to start. We have been very busy at the shop piecing everything together and we will be ready to rip when the green flag flies at Duluth. Hope to see you there!
Nice Work. Sleds are looking great. Good luck in Duluth. I see your dad is wearing his old Iron Dog Shirt. When are you going to run the big one? I watched your dad race in Kozebue, Alaska where I grew up in the early 90’s. Ask him about the guy that passed him with the beaver hat.
Thank you to Tucker (and John) for sharing all this… The pictures are great and the commentary definitely entertaining. Now I can’t wait to watch some races!
Well done and Good luck!
I love seeing the day to day aspects of the race prep. I wish you & your team the best, and if you are ever up here in Alaska testing or just looking for new terrain, please give a shout, I met Kirk once in White Mt Ak, when he & Scott Davis were racing the 500’s, was a real highlight of my involvement with the Iron Dog, and keeps my loyalty to CAT firm and real. Fly Safe Tucker, and give them hell, as I know you will!
Looking at the pictures, the Hibbert race shop looks pretty impressive. Tucker, you should do a video tour of the race shop…. Have a great season!
Sandberg needs to send Tucker a couple AI.com stickers for those hoods!!!
THANKS TUCKER : FOR ALL THE GREAT PHOTO’S , ESPECIALLY OF YOUR DAD . IF I EVER MANAGE TO MAKE MY WAY TO THIEF RIVER FALLS ONE DAY , MY MAIN OBJECTIVE WOULD BE TO MEET YOUR FATHER AND ROGER SKIME . THESE TWO MEN ARE LIKE “GOD’S” IN THE SNOWMOBILE WORLD . LOVE THE NEW RACE SLEDS AND I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE “ARCTIC CAT ” RACE TEAM’S CLEANING HOUSE THIS YEAR ONCE AGAIN .
