“All the bells and whistles that man has yet devised to fit a snowmobile, converge in appropriate reality in this machine.”
Yes, that’s just one of the juicy bits you’ll hear when you click on the media player below and listen to the 1-min. radio ad for the 1980 Arctic Cat Pantera and Trail Cat.

Sweet! I love reading the old brochures. I remember riding a friends Trail Cat in the 80’s. It was….. umm….. different. Kind of like the ’81 Ski-doo Blizzard MX in that comfort seemed to be its primary focus, not performance ride and handling. Seems like they both used a similar rear skid with the torsion spring front arms that didn’t really work very well.
Must have been some patent issues preventing Cat from equipping the trailing arm front suspension with dual radius rods? Thanks for sharing.
I remember riding the proto trail cats at a golf course in Pontiac, still carry my gear in a gearbag I won and a 76 Pantera coat my dad bought me there.1976
I LOVE Arctic Cat, i have since my first cat a 1974 Lynx 2 440!
Arctic Cat is the best snowmobile ever built bar none.
Thanks for sharing, very interesting!
