Wes Selby’s Custom Arctic Cat Hill, er, Snocrosser

Wes Selby's Arctic Cat ZR-turned-HCR custom hillcrosser.

Beginning today, Team Arctic’s Wes Selby will compete at the Ultimate Snowmobiler event in Crested Butte, CO.

His sled: this fully custom Arctic Cat ZR SX-R snocrosser-turned-HCR-with-a-Speedwerx-800-supercharger!

Here’s the skinny:

It started life as a 2015 Arctic Cat ZR 6000R SX race sled. Then Wes and fellow Arctic Cat engineer Jeff Tweet began, uh, tweaking.

First, they extended the rails on the skidframe and added a 153-in. Camoplast track. A rear tunnel extension completed the stretch.

Next came a FOX-equipped Cross-Link rear suspension system built for them by Kirk Hibbert.

Then a trip to Speedwerx and a swap of the stock motor with a Speedwerx-built 800 Supercharger gave it horsepower 225 range.

BAM! Sled is ready for hillcross, hillclimb and whatever kind of craziness Wes is likely to find.

Team Arctic’s Garth Kaufman built a similar sled (with Kirk Hibbert) for the Ultimate race (and other hillclimb events), using a Speedwerx-built Supercharged 600 engine.

I’m pretty stoked to see how these Cats will do. I have a feeling they’ll be roosting with the big boys.

Good luck to both, as well as all the other Team Arctic racers who are competing over the next few weekends.

Thanks for reading.
